Most people who start a business are great at the work itself.

A plumber can fix a burst pipe, a photographer can light a room, a dog groomer can calm a nervous terrier. Where many get stuck is the website: a blank page, a pile of decisions and a project that never quite gets finished. Veloċi (also written Veloci, pronounced "veh-LOH-chee"), launched this month, is built to get them to the end.

Instead of an empty editor, every project opens as a designed site. Veloċi covers 154 business types in 11 groups, from cafés, florists and electricians to physiotherapists, tattoo studios, tutors and DJs. Each one opens with prewritten copy for that trade, curated and licensed photos, and the sections that business needs. A café gets a menu section and a "Book now" button. A plumber gets service descriptions and a trust strip. The owner's job changes from building a website to making one their own: their name, their words, their photos.

"Back in the day you had to write a business plan to start a business," said Formosa. "Today you cement your idea with a website. Plans keep changing. The website is the fixed point."

The builder handles the parts people get stuck on. No name yet? The name generator suggests business names from the owner's area and a few words they choose. The copy studio writes a fresh set of words, or makes them warmer, shorter, more premium or more local for search. "Find your voice" asks short rounds of questions about the business and how it came to be; owners can type their answers or simply tap the microphone and say them, and those answers become an About section that sounds like them. One press of Remix gives the same words a fresh style, colours and photos. The main button chooses itself to suit the business, and on the Growth package it can send customers straight to the platforms they already use, such as Uber Eats, DoorDash, Fresha, Mindbody, OpenTable or Calendly. Real reviews can be linked from Google, Trustpilot, Facebook, Yelp or Tripadvisor, and a brand-new business with no reviews yet can show how long it has been doing the work instead. The writing tools run in the browser: nothing is sent to an AI service while the owner edits, and every line stays editable.

Veloċi goes further than "responsive." Owners can preview their site on 77 device presets covering 52 distinct screen sizes, then open Veloċi Studio, which puts the live site onto devices in a rendered room (a laptop on a table, a monitor on a desk, a tablet on a sofa) so they see it the way their customers will.

Underneath, every Veloċi site is built new on modern foundations. There are no plugins to install, update or clash with each other, and the finished site can be downloaded as a single file the owner keeps.

"There's only so much word of mouth, and word of mouth is only as strong as your network," said Formosa. "Your business can't be built on your mum promoting you. When a customer, a supplier or a bank looks you up, there needs to be something solid to find."

Starting costs nothing. There is no account to create and no payment to begin; the draft saves as the owner works, and a Share link lets them carry on from another device. Payment is one-off, made when the owner decides to download or publish: packages start from US$99 in the United States and A$169 in Australia, with the full price, including any tax, shown before checkout. There are no monthly fees for the site. Hosting on a fast, secure global network (from US$62 a year, with HTTPS and uptime monitoring), a domain and a professional email address at the owner's own domain are optional extras ordered in the same place, so the site, hosting, domain and email are sorted together.

The website is only the first piece. Veloċi is the opening move in something much bigger that Formosa calls Business in a Box. Most people who start a business are great at the work itself, then end up paying for a dozen separate tools before their first customer: website, domain, email, bookings, payments, phone and admin. Business in a Box brings everything behind a business into one place, so the owner does the work their customers pay for and the box handles the rest. The website, domain, hosting and business email are available today. Being built now: one home for each business that shows what is live and what needs attention, every enquiry in one place so nothing gets lost, clear prices before checkout, and every renewal in one timeline. Next on the roadmap: follow-ups and reminders, quotes and projects customers can approve, bookings, a business phone number with calls answered and messages taken when the owner can't pick up, and the day-to-day admin handled in the background.

These services are planned as pay-as-you-go, not another subscription. If a message is taken for one missed call, the owner pays for that one call. Nobody is signed up in advance for things they don't use yet.

"We're bringing the security and strength of enterprise systems all the way down to a business's first customer, with the agility of a solo operator," said Formosa. "Other than actually doing the work they're good at, anything beyond that is what we want to deliver. A business shouldn't have to spend thousands on tools before it has made its first sale."

Veloċi is available worldwide, and it is built to grow with the business. As a business finds its feet over the next 12 to 36 months, its website becomes an asset worth investing in. When that time comes, the same team's agency, Adam's Media Services, can take the site further with custom design and a stronger presence, at adamsmedia.services.

Small business owners, tradespeople, freelancers and side hustlers can try Veloċi free at veloci.build. Pick a trade, and the site is already started.
